If this happens a lot and can only be solved by rebooting,

1. Connect the data cable to the port on the mainboard.
2. Test the robustness of the software again.

• If the software runs stably, then the port on the control unit is malfunctioning. 

1. Fetch the extension cable and connect it to the port on the mainboard.
2. Fix the other end of the extension cable to the control unit.
3. Use this newly created port instead of the old port. 

• If the software still breaks down from time to time, retry with a different data cable or computer.
